What Is Required For Staff?

Complete the Staff Application

Provide a resume and/or portfolio with your Staff Application

Be available for meetings prior to the convention

Be available the day of the convention to assist with the runnings of the convention itself

Depending on your position, you may be required to be on call during the run of the convention to answer questions from Volunteers, Staff, and/or Convention Organizers

Adhere to the Code of Conduct and uphold the values of Kinshoku Productions, Inc.

Be 18 years of age or older

Please note that we are unable to provide monetary compensation for these roles at this time. However, we will provide weekend passes for members of our Staff in addition to a KinshokuCon Staff Shirt and a Staff Badge Ribbon.

Additional perks may be announced as we get closer to the event.

Positions Available

  1. Cosplay – This position will require you to be available for biweekly meetings two (2) months prior to the event. This position requires cosplay competition and/or costuming experience. Assist in the execution of our convention’s Cosplay Contest. You will ensure that all contestant applications are reviewed, all contestants are checked in on the day of, coordinate with Programming on the execution of the contest itself, and assist with the selection of judges. You will report to the Head of Programming.
  2. AV/Tech – This position will require that you be available for biweekly meetings one (1) month prior to the event. This position requires experience working with AV/Tech equipment. Ensure that all the equipment we use during the convention is operational and appropriate for the event/panel. You will assist in the set up and tear down of all AV/Tech and help with troubleshooting our equipment when volunteers/staff encounter issues. This will also include coordinating with Programming on any lighting/sound checks required for Main Events. This position will report to the Head of Hall Ops. 
  3. Care Team – This position will require that you be available for biweekly meetings one (1) month prior to the event. This position requires CPR and First Aid Certification. Ensure that all injuries and medical emergencies that may occur at the convention are responded to in an appropriate manner and if it requires the assistance of outside medical facilities, that proper resources are contacted in a timely manner and the situation is documented appropriately. This position will report to Head of Hall Ops.
  4. Safety –This position will require you to be available for biweekly meetings two (2) months prior to the event. Prior security or higher management experience is preferred. Assist in ensuring the convention remains a safe environment for all attendees. This position will require you to de-escalate situations brought to your attention by staff, volunteers, or attendees, and evaluate if these situations require outside intervention. This position reports to Head of Hall Ops.
  5. Hobby Hideaway – The position will require you to be available for biweekly meetings two (2) months prior to the event. Oversee the planning and operation of our crafting center, known as the Hobby Hideaway. Assist with the planning and organization of a variety of crafts and workshops led by a combination of community partners and volunteers. Preference will be given for people who have experience leading crafting events/workshops. This position will report to the Head of Programming.

Please be advised that being a part of the staff is a significantly larger time commitment than that of a volunteer. Each position requires you to be available before the convention to attend meetings. These meetings can be attended virtually depending on the position.
